Rockville police released surveillance video Thursday of a suspect that officers believe displayed a handgun and assaulted a woman on Rockville Pike on the morning of Aug. 31.
The woman told police the man approached her around 5 a.m. while she was walking from a parking garage in the 1500 block of Rockville Pike, displayed a handgun and then struck her several times in the head. Police said the suspect then fled without stealing anything from the woman. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.
In the video released Thursday, the man can be seen stuffing what looks like a handgun into the front of his pants. Police described the suspect as a black man, about 6 feet tall and 170 pounds with brown eyes and black hair who was last seen wearing a black shirt, pants, and knit hat.
Anyone with more information about the suspect is asked to call Rockville police at 240-314-8938.
