Montgomery County Council member Tom Hucker has once again enlisted local restaurants in Silver Spring and Takoma Park to offer a week of special fixed-price menus.
The second annual Silver Spring and Takoma Park Restaurant Week will take place next month from Sept. 6 to 11. During the week participating restaurants will offer two-course lunches for $12 and three-course lunches for $17, as well as two-course dinners for $17 and three-course dinners for $27.
Hucker launched the week last year as a way to highlight the growing Silver Spring restaurant scene. He said several more local eateries have signed on to participate this year after a successful first year that included 13 participating restaurants.
“We want to encourage people to come out and try the restaurants they may not have tried before,” Hucker said. “We hope people will get outside their comfort zone a little bit.”
About 30 restaurants are participating, with cuisine ranging from Thai and Caribbean to American and Ethiopian. Some of the restaurants’ menus have been posted on the event’s website.
Hucker said organizers decided to change the name of the promotional event from the Silver Spring Restaurant Week to the Silver Spring and Takoma Park Restaurant Week to help publicize the participation of Takoma Park eateries.
