More than 20 percent of MCPS students miss last day

A total of 33,946 students were absent on the final day of the school year on June 20, a half-day that fell on a Monday, after Montgomery County Public Schools extended the school year by a day due to the number of snow days taken. [MyMCMedia]

Worker injured in fall at Kensington home

A construction worker suffered serious, but nonlife-threatening injuries after falling about 30 feet down an elevator shaft while working at a home on Dresden Street in Kensington.

Metro to cut 500 jobs
