Fish Taco’s expansion continues.

The fast-casual concept known for its crispy and grilled fish tacos will host free hour-long lunch and dinner services today at its new Wisconsin Avenue location, then officially open to the public either Saturday or Monday, according to owner Francis Namin.

Namin said the official opening will depend on how the kitchen staff handles the public soft opening. If it goes well, the restaurant will open Saturday, but if not, a Monday opening is planned.

The location, which fills the former City Burger spot, will be the third Fish Taco in the Bethesda area. The other locations are in Cabin John and at Wildwood Shopping Center in Bethesda. That restaurant opened in March.

Namin said the Wisconsin Avenue restaurant will offer the same menu as the other locations—except it won’t serve barbacoa, a type of beef. He also said the food would be served on paper plates instead of dishes, as in other locations, due to space limitation in the Bethesda restaurant.

The latest Fish Taco is part of a larger expansion plan for the fast-casual concept, according to Namin. He said the restaurant is already working to open a location in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is scouting for other locations in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Namin’s Food, Wine & Co. recently closed in Bethesda, though he said that restaurant may make a comeback, possibly in the new Carr Properties project that’s set to replace the Apex Building. He said he’s had preliminary discussions with Carr about relocating the restaurant in one of the buildings proposed for the site. The Apex building is expected to be demolished next year and Carr has said construction of its proposed buildings wouldn’t likely be completed until at least 2020.
