The long-awaited Neighborhood Restaurant Group beer garden concept at Pike & Rose will open in late summer and be named for a colonial-era title for Rockville.
The 175-seat restaurant and 60-seat beer garden will be called Owen’s Ordinary, one of the earliest known names for the small, unincorporated town that became Rockville.
The restaurant will be at 11820 Trade St., on the first floor of the northeast corner of Pike & Rose’s PerSei apartment building. Neighborhood Restaurant Group beer director Greg Engert will oversee the beer list, which will include 50 craft selections on draft, according to a spokesperson.
A bar was built into the building’s façade, serving both the inside dining area and the beer garden outside.
Pike & Rose developer Federal Realty Investment Trust first announced in 2014 Neighborhood Restaurant Group would be opening a beer garden-focused restaurant at the project. The Alexandria-based company is known for popular Washington, D.C., spots with extensive beer lists such as Birch & Barley, Churchkey and Bluejacket.
Owen’s Ordinary will be the group’s first restaurant in Montgomery County.
Italian café, restaurant and market Carluccio’s opened in March in the adjacent space.
