Montgomery, Prince George’s approve WSSC rate increase

The two counties approved a 3 percent increase to water and sewage usage rates that will increase rates by about $3.28 per month for the average household. The water utility said it will use the funds to rehabilitate water and sewer pipelines. [WSSC]

County Council to examine alert system after shooting

Montgomery College sent out a faulty tornado warning when it attempted to warn students about the shootings last week at Westfield Montgomery mall and in Aspen Hill, while other county employees said they had not been trained to respond to a shooting incident. The council now plans to examine the county’s alert system. [Washington Post]
