Business Notes: Bethesda Apple Store to Close Next Month for Expansion

Westfield Montgomery Apple Store to close for remodeling and expansion

The Westfield Montgomery mall Apple store will soon be much larger. Neighboring stores Teavana and the women’s retailer BCBG Max Azria have already closed at the mall in order to make way for the Apple store’s expansion.

Mall spokeswoman Patti Green said in an email that the Apple store will close May 7 to begin the renovation and expansion and the store is expected to re-open this fall. Local retail blog Store Reporter first reported the Apple store news earlier this month.

Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce to celebrate 90th Anniversary

The local chamber will host three events over the next three months to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The festivities start Wednesday with a walk-around of chamber leaders and others to 90 member businesses to thank them for their support of the business group. On the morning of April 26, the chamber’s leadership will announce the group’s new name at a Montgomery County Council meeting as part of a proclamation ceremony recognizing the anniversary. Then on June 13, the chamber will host a 90th anniversary party at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda with a 1920s theme where County Executive Ike Leggett will introduce the chamber’s new officers.

Honest Tea founder to appear at Democratic Business Council of Maryland’s inaugural event

The Democratic Business Council of Maryland, which was founded in December as a way for local Democrats to meet and network with local professionals and elected officials, will host its inaugural dinner event featuring Honest Tea Founder Seth Goldman on Wednesday night at Denizens Brewing Co. in Silver Spring. The event starts at 6 p.m. and tickets are $45

The leadership of the business council includes state Del. Aruna Miller, Denizens founder Julie Veratti, Montgomery County Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Lily Qi and nonprofit consultant Marjorie Goldman, according to the group’s website.
