Montgomery County police are investigating the death of a 22-year-old transgender woman at the Rockville Red Roof Inn.

Police said officers found the woman dead in a room at the hotel around 11:49 a.m. Saturday with trauma to her upper body. On Monday, police announced that investigators believe the woman, Kenneth Anthony Blakeney, who identified herself as Keyonna, was assaulted and killed in her hotel room early Saturday in a prostitution-related incident. Police said the state medical examiner’s office ruled her death a homicide.

The Red Roof Inn is at 16001 Shady Grove Road.

This is the second significant incident reported at the hotel in a little over a year. In March 2015, police arrested two men and a woman for robbery and auto theft in an early morning incident at the hotel.
