The owner of Urban Butcher is planning a new seafood restaurant for the fourth floor of the Silver Spring building on Georgia Avenue that currently houses the popular, meat-focused eatery.

A source close to the restaurant, who asked to remain anonymous because plans have not been finalized, said Wednesday the new seafood-focused restaurant would have a unique rooftop design with views of downtown Silver Spring.

The source said a 2017 opening is planned.

Chef-owner Raynold Mendizabal opened Urban Butcher in December 2013 and the restaurant has made a name for itself with its blend of house-made charcuterie and dry-aged steaks and a busy bar scene. The restaurant is at 8226 Georgia Ave.
