Eight firefighters injured in Germantown blaze

Eight firefighters suffered minor injuries and are expected to be OK after a 3-alarm fire tore through a townhouse on Churubusco Lane in Germantown early Monday morning. No civilians were injured, although 18 people and several pets were displaced. [@mcfrspio]

Hogan restores funding for new science building at USG

Gov. Hogan amended his budget proposal Thursday to include $31.7 million for the new biosciences building at the Universities of Shady Grove in Rockville. Earlier this year, the governor had removed the item, and other funding for colleges in the state, from his budget proposal in an attempt to reduce debt payments and fund a Baltimore City jail. Matthews, Trone both claim second place in Congressional race in internal polls

The Kathleen Matthews campaign said their internal poll showed Matthews trailing Jamie Raskin 28 percent to 31 percent, with David Trone at 13 percent. However, Trone’s campaign said its most recent internal poll had the businessman second to Raskin with 25 percent to 30 percent. [Washington Post]

Metro stations ranked by escalator outages

The Bethesda station had the eighth most outages in the system, but one escalator at the station was out for 83 percent of the year. Forest Glen was the only station in the transit system not to have a single outage last year. [Washingtonian]
