Both Whitman High School basketball teams earn region titles

The boys team beat Clarksburg 62-61 in overtime in Saturday’s 4A West Region championship game at Montgomery Blair High School. [MCPS Athletics via Twitter]

The girls team followed that game by beating Clarksburg 63-39 on the same floor for its 4A West Region championship. [Whitman Athletics via Twitter]

Now both teams move on to the state semifinals. The girls team plays 4A East winner North Point at 5 p.m. Thursday in Towson University’s SECU Arena. The boys team plays 4A East winner Meade at 9 p.m. Thursday in the University of Maryland’s Xfinity Center. [MPSSAA]

County moves forward on BELL summer education program
