Black History Month celebration – Saturday and Sunday – Josiah Henson Park, Rockville
Throughout this weekend Montgomery Parks will offer guided tours and presentations in honor of Black History Month at Josiah Henson Park. The park is on the historic Isaac Riley Farm where the Rev. Josiah Henson lived and worked as a slave from 1795 to 1830. Historians will take visitors on guided tours throughout the weekend and a documentary, The Search for Josiah Henson, will be screened at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Elgar’s Enigma Variations – Friday night – The Music Center at Strathmore, North Bethesda
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will perform British composer Edward Elgar’s masterwork Enigma Variations Friday. The composer is also known for creating the Pomp and Circumstance marches, a part of which is often played at American graduation ceremonies. The show starts at 8:15 p.m. and tickets range from $42 to $99.
Rahsaan Patterson – two shows Friday night – Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club, Bethesda
The former star of the children’s TV show Kids Incorporated has turned himself into a well-known soul and R&B singer. Patterson has been touring since the late ’90s and his fifth and latest studio album, Bleuphoria, was released in 2011. He’ll play two shows Friday night, the first at 7 p.m. and the second at 10 p.m. Tickets to both shows are $50 to $65.
Led Zeppelin 2 – Friday night – The Fillmore Silver Spring
Take a step back into the golden age of rock ’n’ roll with Led Zeppelin 2, a cover band that plays the legendary group’s hits. The band will take the Fillmore stage at 8 p.m. and tickets are $16.
Alan Scott Band – Saturday night – Villain & Saint, Bethesda
Washington, D.C., singer-songwriter and guitarist Alan Scott will play the Bethesda rock venue Saturday night. The rock ’n’ roll musician has opened for performers including James Brown and Cheap Trick, according to his website. He’ll take the stage at 9 p.m. and tickets are $8 to $10.
