A Rockville-based company behind a popular iPhone fitness app will be featured on Friday night’s episode of Shark Tank, the ABC TV show in which investors decide whether to invest in start-ups.

Nexercise, which is based in the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development’s Rockville Innovation Center, will be pitching the investors on Sworkit, an app that gives users video instructions for exercises and allows them to set workout routines.

According to the county’s economic development department, the company is looking for funding to expand the Sworkit brand.

“We want to be the go-to platform for delivering guided exercise anywhere, anytime and to any screen to ensure there are no excuses for not working out,” Nexercise Chief Operating Officer Gregory Coleman said, according to a county press release.

Sworkit has earned five stars in Apple’s app store and has been downloaded more than eight million times with 1.5 million monthly users.
