Man Found Shot at Silver Spring Motel

Police said the man suffered nonlife-threatening injuries in Wednesday's late morning shooting

Updated – 1:45 p.m. – A man was found shot at the Travelodge on 13th Street in Silver Spring around 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to Montgomery County police.

Police said the man was transported to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. Detectives are currently investigating the shooting, but police said there is “some indication” that the incident is not random. Police do not currently have a suspect in custody.

Police told local reporters at the scene that the victim said he was shot in both legs after an attempted robbery across the Washington, D.C. line and then fled to the Travelodge in Silver Spring.

The motel is at 8040 13th St., about two blocks west of Georgia Ave. and not far from Montgomery College’s Silver Spring campus.
