Family and friends remember Christina Koutsoukos at UMD vigil
The 18-year-old University of Maryland student from Gaithersburg was remembered as someone who made people smile and could “brighten up a room.” She died in a car crash Sunday in Potomac while sitting in the front seat of a Dodge Viper driven by her boyfriend Brandon Bussard, 22, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. SHA agrees to require sidewalk closure notices
The State Highway Administration enacted an administrative change this week that requires construction crews to post a notice at a work site where a sidewalk closure is taking place that includes information about how long the sidewalk will be closed and contact information for the contractor. Del. Marc Korman and state Sen. Brian Feldman withdrew a bill that would have forced SHA to require the notices. [Marc Korman on Facebook]
State Democrats announce transportation agendas
The legislative package includes a proposal to score and prioritize transportation projects in order to decide which are funded first as well as an expansion of state tax credits for employers who provide commuter benefits to workers that aims at making suburban jobs more accessible to urban residents. Lockheed and Boeing lose $80 billion bomber protest
