Updated Thursday – Montgomery County police are investigating a home invasion involving two armed men that happened around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday on Arlive Court in Rockville.

Police said an elderly couple was inside the home. The couple was not injured in the incident but police said later Wednesday the 77-year-old male victim was tied up.

Police spokeswoman Rebecca Innocenti said Wednesday that police are looking for two masked men, described only as black.

Innocenti said the men knocked on the home's front door and forced their way in after the 77-year-old victim opened the door. Innocenti said the man's 86-year-old wife was also home. She said both suspects displayed handguns and ransacked the home before fleeing on foot. Police were called after the men fled the home, Innocenti said.

A neighbor told police that two men matching the suspect's descriptions knocked on her door before the home invasion.

Officers with police dogs were canvassing the area in search of the suspects on Wednesday afternoon, according to Innocenti.

She said Major Crimes detectives are leading the investigation and that she did not know what was taken from the home. She said there was currently no information to indicate that the suspects knew the couple or that the couple knew the suspects.

On Twitter, witnesses posted a picture of a Maryland State Police helicopter hovering over the scene.
