Local restaurateur appears to have given up on burger concept

City Burger has closed on Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda and a sign posted at the business says it will reopen as Fish Taco this spring.

Francis Namin, the restaurateur behind Food Wine & Co. in Bethesda, as well as Fish Taco in Cabin John and three local Don Pollo charbroiled chicken eateries, launched the City Burger concept with then-Food Wine & Co. chef Michael Harr in May 2014. The concept was to provide quality burgers served with specialty toppings, Harr said at the time.

Since the launch, Harr has left the business and Namin has begun expanding the Fish Taco concept, which got its start in 2013 in Cabin John. Namin is also opening a Fish Taco at Wildwood Shopping Center on Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda reportedly next month.

Namin did not respond to a request for comment about the Fish Taco expansion earlier this week. The local retail blog Store Reporter first reported that City Burger would be changing into a Fish Taco location. Namin told the blog he plans to open the Wildwood location in March and the Wisconsin Avenue eatery in April.
