Updated Monday – A Gaithersburg woman died after a single-vehicle wreck Sunday afternoon in Potomac left her pinned for at least 45 minutes.

The vehicle, a 2010 Dodge Viper, was headed west in the 12800 block of Travilah Road around 3 p.m. Sunday when it left the roadway and hit a concrete wall, Montgomery County police said Monday. Detectives think high speed was a factor in the crash.

The front seat passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Christina Koutsoukos, of Antioch Road in Gaithersburg, was flown by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police on Monday identified 21-year-old Brandon Bussard, of Chevy Chase Street in Gaithersburg, as the driver. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It took emergency medical crews about 45 minutes to extricate Koutsoukos, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer.

The medevac helicopter landed in a nearby field. Travilah Road between Stoney Creek Road and Bissel Lane remained closed into Sunday night as Montgomery County police investigated.

Police are asking for anyone with information regarding the collision to contact the department's Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.

On Facebook, Bussard lists that he's in a relationship with Koutsoukos. Koutsoukos' Facebook profile features a picture of her posing with Bussard.
