The California burger chain that beat out the much-lauded In-N-Out Burger chain to be named the best fast-food burger in the country in 2014 is coming to Rockville Pike.

The Habit Burger Grill recently signed a lease with H&R Retail to fill a 2,800-square-foot space at Wintergreen Plaza in Rockville. There were no details immediately available about when the restaurant would open. A company spokesperson has not responded to a request for information.

In 2014, Consumer Reports readers voted the chain’s signature charburgers as the best-tasting fast-food burgers in the country. The Habit Burger Grill beat out In-N-Out, Five Guys and Smashburger to claim the top spot.

The chain started in Santa Barbara, California, in 1969 and now includes more than 100 locations in California, with outposts also in Arizona, Utah, New Jersey, Nevada, Idaho and Virginia. The Virginia location in Ashburn opened in November. The Rockville Pike restaurant will be the chain’s first location in Maryland.
