UPDATED: Hard-to-Predict Storm Could Bring Significant Snowfall to Montgomery County

The northwest part of the county is under a Winter Storm Watch

Updated 1:15 p.m. – The northwest portion of Montgomery County is under a Winter Storm Warning and the middle and southern parts of Montgomery County are under a Winter Storm Advisory starting 10 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The weather service is predicting the hard-to-forecast coastal storm may bring between 1 and 3 inches of snow around the Beltway.

The NWS snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches for the area under the Winter Storm Watch, which mostly covers counties in the Baltimore area and Frederick County.

Rain is expected to turn to snow late Monday night.

Local meteorologists are predicting anywhere from a coating of snow to 4 inches of accumulation for southern Montgomery County by Tuesday night.
