State lawmakers question snow cleanup in Montgomery County
State legislators representing southern Montgomery County sent a letter to State Transportation Secretary Pete Rahn questioning why major state roads in the county such as Rockville Pike, River Road and Connecticut Avenue hadn’t had all their lanes cleared of snow for days after the snow stopped. Appeals court casts doubt on Maryland’s assault weapons ban
A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals sent the case back to a lower court Thursday asking that it review the Second Amendment implications. Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh, who helped pass the ban on assault rifles and high-capacity magazines as a state senator, responded that the court should hold greater deference to public safety concerns. Overnight lane closures scheduled on Beltway in Silver Spring
The lane closures will take place on I-495 between the New Hampshire Avenue and Colesville Road exits each night through early March, starting at 9 p.m. and continuing until 5 a.m. The closures are taking place so crews can work on the MD 193 Bridge. [Maryland State Highway Administration]
