Important things to know as the work week begins after a historic weekend storm

Metro operating on limited routes – Metro service resumed in a limited fashion Monday morning, with trains operating every 20 to 25 minutes on the Red Line between Medical Center and Union Station only. Metro plans to restore above-ground service between Union Station and Glenmont on the Red Line at 11 a.m. All Metrorail and Metrobus services are free Monday. Metrobus is operating on the following routes in Maryland from noon to 5 p.m.: C4D12K6P12Q2, Y2, Z8.

Free parking in county garages Monday – County parking garages will remain free Monday. The garages are scheduled to return to normal service Tuesday at 9 a.m., according to the Department of Transportation’s website.

Federal, state, county and city offices and local schools closed Due to treacherous road conditions the federal government is closed Monday. State and Montgomery County government offices are also closed. The City of Rockville’s government offices are closed. Montgomery County Public Schools are closed Monday  and Tuesday.

No trash pickup The county will not be picking up trash Monday and is asking residents not to bring trash to the curb at this time.

County Council meetings postponed or canceled The council canceled its scheduled Monday committee meetings and the Westbard Sector Plan public hearing scheduled for Tuesday night has been postponed until Feb. 2.

City of Rockville remains under snow emergency – All city activities and programs are canceled Monday. City officials are also asking residents to stay off the roads and to park in city lots or garages so the roads can be cleared.
