Chevy Chase resident Joseph Howell, 85, stands on the walkway he finished shoveling Monday afternoon. Howell, a former basketball and football coach as well as a State Department employee who has lived on Woolesly Drive for nearly 50 years, said, "I can never remember anything like this."
