Montgomery County government offices and facilities are closed Tuesday.
The county announced the closure Monday evening as the region slowly recovered from the weekend’s historic snowstorm. Only essential county employees are required to report to work Tuesday.
The county also announced it will extend free parking in county garages until 9 a.m. Wednesday. The free parking provides residents—especially those in and around downtown areas such as Bethesda and Silver Spring—a bit more time to figure out where to park their cars on snow-lined roads.
The county also announced it won’t collect recycling and trash from homes Tuesday, pushing regular pickups, which haven’t happened since Friday, back another day.
While Montgomery County Public Schools previously announced schools would be closed Tuesday, MCPS said Monday all administrative offices will be closed as well.
The county’s Ride On bus service is scheduled to resume service Tuesday with 17 routes operating:
