A Virginia-based pet grooming and boarding facility is moving into Maryland with a Rockville location it plans to open this summer.

Olde Towne Pet Resort is opening a facility with 120 suites for dogs and 40 spaces for cats at 12230 Wilkins Avenue.

The resort, which is owned by the Charlottesville, Virginia-based Fried Companies Inc., launched its first location in 2002 in Springfield and its second in 2011 in Sterling.

The Rockville location will boast suites with hospital-grade air filtration systems and password-protected “pet cams.” According to a press release, special air flow and soundproofing work will be done at the Rockville resort to “ensure clean air, peace and tranquility throughout.”

Dog suites at the company’s two Virginia locations range from $60 to $150 a night, depending on whether the suite has features such as the live webcam and how many times the dog is walked. Cat suites range from $35 to $50 per night.

There will also be dog exercise equipment and a salon dedicated to pet grooming.

In a press release, Olde Towne Pet Resort Chief Financial Officer Steven Rotter said “the Pike District in Montgomery County is an ideal location in which we have assessed a growing demand for first-rate pet boarding and grooming.”

The resort will be located in a light industrial area near the White Flint Metro station and an area developers have branded the Pike District.
