Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) announced there will be no school Friday in advance of a potential historic snowstorm set to hit the area Friday afternoon.
The school system made the announcement just after 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
Schools will also be closed Saturday and Sunday. The school system’s administrative offices will close Friday at noon.
The closure includes the cancellation of all community use activities in MCPS buildings. The administration of the SAT exam set for Saturday is canceled as are all field trips set for Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Schools were already scheduled to be closed for students Monday for a teacher professional day.
