Jazz trumpeter Christian Scott, whose debut album Rewind That was nominated for a Grammy Award, takes the AMP stage at 8 p.m. The 32-year-old New Orleans musician graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2004. Tickets range from $30 to $40.

Head backstage at the opera and watch as a series of mishaps prevent the show’s star tenor from taking the stage. The play premieres Friday and is scheduled for six shows—8 p.m. Jan. 15, 16, 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. Jan. 17 and 24. Tickets are $22 or $20 for seniors and students.
A Change Gon’ Come – shows Friday, Saturday and Sunday – Arts Barn, 311 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg
This multimedia performance tells the story of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. The show focuses on the “unrelenting circumstances and choices that Tubman and every other slave had to make if they were to escape to freedom.” Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for children 14 and under.
National Philharmonic: Bach Violin Concerto No. 2 — Saturday night — The Music Center at Strathmore, North Bethesda
Violinist Colin Sorgi joins the National Philharmonic for this performance of Bach’s violin and string concerto. The performance will also include works by Mozart, Grieg and Britten. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $29 to $79.
The GoodFellas – Saturday night – Villain & Saint, 7141 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda
The Beatles tribute band The GoodFellas will play at the Bethesda rock club this Saturday. The Washington, D.C.-based band got its start four years ago playing shows in the region. The band plays the legendary group’s hits as well as some of its lesser known songs.
