Their sales prices may have amounted to pennies when compared to the $1.6 billion Powerball lottery jackpot, but they were high enough to place two Potomac mansions on the list of the 10 most expensive homes sold in the Washington, D.C., area in 2015.
The real estate listing service MRIS released the list Thursday. The Potomac homes that made the list are a 7-bedroom red brick residence at 11100 Cripplegate Road, which sold for $6.15 million in August, and an 8-bedroom European-style villa at 10124 Iron Gate Road, which sold for $5.5 million last January.
The Cripplegate residence ranked sixth on the list and the Iron Gate home came in at No. 10. The expensive homes were joined on the list by seven D.C. homes and one in McLean, Virginia.
A Fessenden Street manor in Northwest D.C. had the highest sale price in 2015. MRIS reported the 7-bedroom home with a neoclassical design sold for $18 million Dec. 29.
This residence at 11100 Cripplegate Road in Potomac came in at No. 6 on the list. It includes an in-ground pool, tennis courts, a two-bedroom guest house, four acres of land, imported fireplaces and a chef's kitchen.
