Owner hasn't been charged in case

Some of the 66 dogs seized in a New Year’s Day raid at a home in Rockville are now available for adoption.

Montgomery County Animal Services announced Saturday that the dogs were provided with medical treatment and grooming and some are ready to be adopted. The county’s shelter in Derwood will house some of the dogs until they’re adopted, while others will go to rescue partners or other regional shelters, according to animal services.

However, the news wasn’t all good. Three of the dogs had to be euthanized because they were suffering from medical conditions that were likely a “source of extreme pain,” animal services said.

The dogs were seized from a home in the 13000 block of Glen Mill Road after investigators were led to the house while investigating a complaint about a dog biting someone. The case remains under investigation and the homeowner has not charged, animal services said.
