Weekend Events: Humble Boy Premiere in Silver Spring; Doors Cover Band at The Fillmore

Humble Boy – Premiere Friday with weekend shows until Jan. 30 – Silver Spring Stage, 10145 Colesville Road, Silver Spring

In this play, a bumbling Cambridge astrophysicist and beekeeper returns to the family home after the death of his father and learns secrets about his demanding mother, who attempts to make a fresh start with a family friend. Tickets are $25.

Dinosaurs at Noyes Children’s Library – Sunday afternoon – Kensington Town Hall, 3710 Mitchell St.., Kensington

“The Day the Dinosaurs Came to Noyes” will feature dinosaur-themed crafts and activities as well as a theater workshop by teaching artists from Bethesda’s Imagination Stage. The event costs $15 and runs from 3 to 5 p.m.

Wild Child – Saturday night – The Fillmore Silver Spring, 8656 Colesville Road, Silver Spring

The show starts at 9 p.m. for this Los Angeles-based Doors tribute band headed by Dave Brock that has been touring since 1986. Tickets are $17.

Secret Society – Friday night – AMP by Strathmore, 11810 Grand Park Ave.., North Bethesda

Led by saxophonist Bryan Mills, this seven-piece band plays a mix of R&B, hip-hop and soul music including cover songs by Stevie Wonder, Notorious B.I.G. and Marvin Gaye. Tickets range from $25 to $35 and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Moxie Blues Band – Saturday night – Villain & Saint, 7141 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda

The local band will take the stage at 9 p.m. at the Bethesda rock venue to cover songs by musicians such as Muddy Waters, Elvis Presley and Ann Peebles. Tickets are $7 to $10.
