Residential burglary on Jamestown Road

Property was taken from a residence in the 4900 block of Jamestown Road between 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 9.

Break-in at Wood Acres Elementary

Someone forced their way into Wood Acres Elementary School at 5800 Cromwell Drive between 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 and 8 a.m. on Dec. 15, but nothing was reported stolen.

Thefts from vehicles on Westlake Drive

Vehicles parked in the 10500 block of Westlake Drive had property taken from them between 6 p.m. Dec. 8 and 11:25 a.m. Dec. 9. Police did not find signs of forced entry.

Residential burglary on East West Highway

Property was taken from a residence in the 3900 block of East West Highway sometime during the day on Dec. 7. Police found signs of forced entry.

Rockville

Victim uses sword during armed robbery

Three men entered a home in the 300 block of Potter Lane and allegedly robbed the residents between 1:40 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 7. Police reported the men were armed with two knives and a handgun, and that they assaulted the resident and took money and a debit card. During the robbery one of the residents was able to obtain a sword from another room and strike one of the suspects. The resulting noise awoke a different resident who called police, causing the suspects to flee. (Rockville Police)

Shots fired on 1st Street

Individuals standing in front of a residence in the 1200 block of 1st Street around midnight on Dec. 11 reported that a man exited a vehicle after parking nearby, walked toward them and fired four shots. The individuals took cover and the man got back into his vehicle. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was last seen speeding towards Taft Street. Police said the suspect was wearing a black ski mask, white shoes and a blue hooded sweatshirt. The vehicle was described as a silver Dodge Avenger. (Rockville police)

Handgun stolen in residential burglary on Meadow Hall Drive

A handgun, two boxes of ammunition, cash, a DVD player, a camera and a fanny pack were reported stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Meadow Hall Drive sometime between Dec. 12 and Dec. 15. Someone gained entry by forcing open a rear basement door. (Rockville police)

Commercial burglary at AVAIL Vapor

Someone forced their way into and took cash from AVAIL Vapor at 12107 Rockville Pike sometime between the evening of Dec. 8 and the morning of Dec. 9.

Arrest made after vehicle stolen

Police arrested a 21-year-old Temple Hills man for allegedly stealing a vehicle on Dorchester Lane sometime between Dec. 7 and Dec. 13. The vehicle was later recovered.
