A toasty Christmas —You can stop hoping for a white Christmas this year. The National Weather Service predicts the high temperature Friday to reach near 65 degrees. On Christmas Eve, it’s expected to hit 73 degrees. The weather will be a little chillier before then, though, with highs Monday and Tuesday expected in the upper 50s. Rain is likely Wednesday, when a high of 66 degrees is predicted. Nighttime lows will drop below 50 degrees Monday and Tuesday, into the low 60s Wednesday and Thursday and the upper 50s on Christmas.
Christmas closings – Montgomery County government, liquor stores and recreation facilities will be closed on Christmas day. County libraries will be closed Dec. 25 and 26. There will be no trash collection on Christmas, and pickup will operate on a slide schedule, regular trash pickup will happen a day later than usual. Montgomery County Public Schools administrative offices will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. State offices and courts will be closed on Christmas.
Russian Nutcracker – The Moscow Ballet will perform The Nutcracker at The Music Center at Strathmore Monday and Tuesday. Both shows start at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $35 to $99.
Board of Education, County Council on recess – Both the Montgomery County Board of Education and County Council are on recess for the holidays. The County Council is scheduled to return Jan. 11, while the school board is scheduled to meet Jan. 7. The county Planning Board also is not scheduled to meet until January.
