[Solidcore] to open two new Bethesda locations in January and March
We knew the Washington, D.C.-based fitness company [solidcore] was coming to Bethesda, now we know when. The company that specializes in 50-minute, “full-body workouts” plans to open its Wildwood Shopping Center location in January, which will be followed by a second location opening in downtown Bethesda in March. Drop-in rates for classes are $37, while new clients can get two classes for $25 or five classes for $99 online.
UPDATE: [Solidcore] has delayed the opening of its Wildwood location to later in January, after previously announcing a Jan. 1 opening, and a company spokesperson said Wednesday they are no longer offering complimentary classes.
Bethesda Game Studios adds Montreal studio
Rockville-based Bethesda Game Studios, maker of the newly released and fast-selling Fallout 4, among other popular games, is expanding with a new studio in Montreal. The company announced last week it’s opening its first satellite office in the Canadian city where it plans to expand its development of console, PC and mobile games. The Montreal location is already home to more than 40 game developers, according to the company.
“We’ve worked with some very talented developers in Montreal for a long time, and decided it was time to open a studio there,” Todd Howard, the company’s game director and executive producer, said in a statement. “It’s exciting to think about the new games we’ll be building together.”
Gaithersburg pharmaceutical company receives FDA approval for chemo overdose drug
WellStat Therapeutics Corp. has had a good a fall. The Gaithersburg biotech firm received its second FDA drug approval of the fall last week when the FDA approved Vistogard, which is used to treat overdoses of certain chemotherapy drugs. While chemotherapy drug overdoses are rare, some patients with specific genetic variants can have toxic reactions to standard doses of chemotherapy drugs, an issue Vistogard is meant to address, according to The Washington Business Journal.
Washington Property Company adds new principal
Andrew Eshelman, formerly a principal at Bethesda-based developer StonebridgeCarras, has joined a different Bethesda developer—Washington Property Company (WPC). Eshelman will be in charge of WPC’s value-added acquisition platform, the company announced Thursday. The company also announced it had promoted Hugh Cole to director of finance, John Mulhern to vice president of construction and Janel Kausner to associate vice president of development.
Westwood Shopping Center to host holiday social Tuesday
The Westwood Shopping Center on Westbard Avenue in Bethesda will feature a hot chocolate bar, holiday music, a photo booth and Santa Claus Tuesday afternoon. The holiday social runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and also includes a coat drive and toy collection.
