The role of Santa and his elves will be played by Montgomery County police officers this week as the department holds its annual Santa Ride to support The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda.

Santa and his elves will swap the traditional sleigh for motorcycles Wednesday to travel through the county to deliver gifts and donations from local business and organizations to the facility that houses families of children who are being treated at NIH.

The procession of more than 40 police officers will begin at 9 a.m. at the 5th District police station in Gaithersburg and make a total of 10 stops before concluding at The Children’s Inn on West Drive. Children and families are invited to visit with Santa when he stops at the various locations.
