The Mini-Nut – multiple show times Saturday and Sunday – Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center, 7995 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring

The Maryland Youth Ballet will perform this child-friendly, abridged version of The Nutcracker    six times this weekend—at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets to the event are $15 for children 12 and under and $20 for adults.

Frank Sinatra’s 100th Birthday Celebration featuring Landau Murphy Jr. – Saturday night – Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club

Landau Murphy Jr. and his big band, of America’s Got Talent fame, will honor Frank Sinatra Saturday night to celebrate what would have been the legendary singer’s 100th birthday. The show will feature Sinatra’s hits as well as tunes from his Christmas album. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $35.

Montgomery Philharmonic performance – Sunday evening – The Lutheran Church of St. Andrew, 15300 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring

Montgomery County’s community orchestra will kick off its Sunday performance with music by the French composer Debussy. The orchestra will then join forces with the Central Maryland Chorale to perform Poulenc’s Gloria followed by the Christmas section of Handel’s Messiah. The show starts at 4 p.m. and tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $15 for students.

Sweet Honey in the Rock – Sunday evening – The Music Center at Strathmore

The popular African-American a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock will perform a holiday concert Sunday at The Music Center at Strathmore. The approximately 110-minute concert starts at 4 p.m. Tickets range from $25 to $75.

Moonshine Society – Saturday night – Villain & Saint, 7141 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda

The blues and rock cover band Moonshine Society is scheduled to take the stage at the Bethesda venue Saturday night at 9. There’s a $10 cover charge.

Other events highlighted earlier this week in Bethesda Beat’s new Arts Preview include Michael Feinstein paying tribute to Frank Sinatra at Strathmore in North Bethesda, the European Union Film Showcase at AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring and a reggae performance at Strathmore.
