Nest Café on Bethesda Avenue is closed and a sign on the door says the Bethesda restaurant is closed for renovations.
Its website says “We’ll be back with a new look in 2016.” Attempts to contact an owner of the restaurant were unsuccessful Monday.
The café’s Twitter account last posted a message about its brunch Nov. 15 and has since gone inactive. Local blogger Robert Dyer first noticed Nov. 30 the restaurant had closed.
On Tuesday, the restaurant appeared largely untouched, with tables and chairs inside and on the patio in place. A manager at a neighboring business said he has not seen any activity at the restaurant since it closed for renovations.
A new chef reportedly took over Nest’s kitchen in August, according to the Twitter account.
A woman who is listed in Maryland property records as the owner of the restaurant’s building declined to talk about the restaurant when reached by phone Monday.
Nest Café originally opened in the summer of 2009.
