Montgomery County Police announced last week they arrested a New Carrollton man after he allegedly tossed a silver handgun in a dumpster behind the Fillmore Silver Spring.
The incident happened Nov. 22 when an off-duty county officer who was working security at the concert venue reportedly heard a man say he was planning to shoot someone. The man—later identified as Dominique Bernard Saunders—had been asked to leave The Fillmore earlier that evening.
A Fillmore employee told the off-duty officer that Saunders, 23, had retrieved a handgun from a vehicle that stopped outside the Fillmore earlier. The off-duty officer then called for backup and responding officers found Saunders walking in an alley behind the venue.
When officers asked Saunders to stop, he initially refused to comply and then allegedly lifted the lid to a dumpster and threw a silver object inside. After doing so, he stopped for the officers. Police found a silver handgun in the dumpster and then arrested Saunders, who is prohibited from possessing a gun due to a previous felony conviction, according to police.
Saunders is charged with multiple handgun offenses and was released on Nov. 25 on $15,000 bond, according to online court records.
