Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade – Saturday morning – Downtown Silver Spring
More than 100 marching bands, dance troops, floats and community groups are expected to participate in the county’s annual Thanksgiving parade Saturday. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and ends when Santa rides by. The parade route starts at Ellsworth Drive and Fenton Street, proceeds south on Georgia Avenue and ends at Silver Spring Avenue.
Pike & Rose Holiday Light Spectacular – Friday night – Old Georgetown Road at Grand Park Avenue, North Bethesda
Live ice carving, holiday music, face painting, a performance by a middle school choir and food tastings are all planned for the Pike & RoseHoliday Light Spectacular Friday night at the North Bethesda development. The event features a tree lighting led by Karl Alzner, a defenseman for the Washington Capitals. The festivities run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Sugarloaf Crafts Festival – Friday through Sunday – Montgomery County Fairgrounds
This traveling crafts festival will stop in Gaithersburg at the county fairgrounds for three days this weekend. The show features more than 350 artisans selling their works ranging from paintings and jewelry to pottery and furniture. Tickets are $8 online or $10 at the gate. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The Tenors – Saturday night – The Music Center at Strathmore
The Tenors, a Canadian male vocal group, will perform songs from its new album “Under One Sky” at the North Bethesda concert hall Saturday night. The quartet has performed with musicians such as Celine Dion and appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $45 to $85.
A Lump of Coal for Christmas– Friday night premiere– Adventure Theatre Musical Theater Center, Glen Echo Park
Adventure Theatre’s holiday show this year follows a lump of coal that wants to be an artist. The story, which is geared toward children, focuses on unlikely friendships and holiday miracles. It’s written by Norman Allen and directed by Holly Twyford. The Friday premiere starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $19.50. Saturday and Sunday shows take place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The show runs until Dec. 31. A full schedule can be found on the theater’s website.
