On Saturday, November 7, Studio E Partners marked its third anniversary with a “Behind the Scenes” artist talk with local artists Ellen Sinel and Frank P Phillips, moderated by broadcaster Diane Roberts.
The standing-room only crowd at the Chevy Chase Village Hall heard from the artists about their inspiration and process. Surrounded by an exhibit of their own work, the artists discussed the importance of movement, texture and environment. Sinel and Phillips shared their constant state of observation, drive to create work with tireless precision and attachment to their paintings. Phillips commented, “I know a piece is done when I want to keep it myself.” And Sinel said, “I know a work is complete when it sings…"
