Paul Anka – Saturday night – The Music Center at Strathmore, North Bethesda
Pop singer Paul Anka, known for his hits from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s including “Diana” and “Lonely Boy,” will perform at The Music Center at Strathmore Saturday. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $48 – $125.
Maryland Emancipation Day celebrations – all weekend – various locations
Montgomery Parks will celebrate the anniversary of Maryland’s Emancipation Day (Nov. 1, 1864) this weekend with various events at local historical sites and parks. Events include hikes along an Underground Railroad route, guided tours of Oakley Cabin in Olney and an open house at the Sandy Spring Slave Museum and African Art Gallery. The Weight – Friday night – AMP by Strathmore, North Bethesda
Two late-joining members of the rock band The Band, Jim Weider and Randy Ciarlante, make up The Weight, which performs hits by The Band. The Weight will play the North Bethesda venue Friday night and perform songs such as “Up On Cripple Creek,” “Life is a Carnival,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” Tickets are $35 and the show starts at 8 p.m.
Joe Clair and Friends – Saturday night – Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club
Comedian Joe Clair, a morning host on WPGC 95.5, hosts an evening of stand-up comedy Saturday night at the Bethesda venue. Scheduled performers include Sean Larkins, Marlon Randolph and Del Harrison. Two shows are scheduled with start times at 7 and 10 p.m. Tickets are $20.
Footloose – Friday and Saturday night – Rockville Musical Theatre, Rockville
Kick off your Sunday shoes—Footloose’s run at Rockville Musical Theatre continues this weekend with two shows, both starting at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $22 and the shows take place at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre at 603 Edmonston Drive.
Nate Myers and the Aces – Saturday night – Villain & Saint, Bethesda
American and blues cover band Nate Myers and the Aces will perform Saturday at the Bethesda rock venue Villain & Saint at 7141 Wisconsin Ave. The Pennsylvania-based band will start the show at 9 p.m.
