The discount fashion retailer Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th will be opening a new 40,000-square-foot store at Congressional Plaza on Rockville Pike next year.
The company announced Wednesday that it plans to open the store in fall 2016 at the Federal Realty-owned mixed-use development.
“We are thrilled to introduce our brand, our incredible merchandise selection, and our amazing prices to the Rockville area with the opening of our Congressional Plaza store,” Jonathan Geller, president of outlets for Saks Fifth Avenue’s parent company Hudson Bay Outlets, said in a statement.
The retailer offers luxury designer items up to 70 percent off what they sell for in traditional Saks stores or other high fashion retailers.
Federal Realty has been updating the plaza with residential buildings over the past two years. The 146-unit apartment building The Crest at Congressional Plaza opened in 2014 and the 48-unit, ages 55-plus apartment building The Stories is currently under construction.
