Halloween events – throughout the weekend – various locations

This is the last weekend to visit several local haunted houses and family-friendly spooky events as they wrap up after the Halloween weekend. Fall Frolic – Saturday afternoon – Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo

This family-friendly Halloween event will include pumpkin decorating, face painting, arts and crafts and trick-or-treating at art studios, galleries and theaters in the park. The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. and most activities are free; some cost $1 or $2. A costume parade through the park is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Rockville 10k/5k – Sunday morning – Rockville streets

The 40th annual Rockville road race will take runners along Redland Boulevard, Gaither Road, and Piccard and West Gude drives. Post-race events will be held at the King Farm Village Center. The event is organized by The City of Rockville and the Rockville Recreation and Parks Foundation. Registration costs $34 through Thursday or $40 on Saturday or race-day Sunday. Runners are asked to check in before 8 a.m. at the King Farm Village Center. The races start at 8:30 a.m.

The Vi-Kings Halloween show – Saturday night – Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club

Local ’60s cover band The Vi-Kings are playing a Halloween-themed show Saturday at the Bethesda jazz club. The band covers songs by The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival and more. Tickets to the show are $15.

National Philharmonic: Bach Favorites –8 p.m. Saturday – The Music Center at Strathmore

The orchestra is scheduled to play a number of Bach’s classics such as the Orchestral Suite No. 3; Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring and A Mighty Fortress. Tickets range from $29 to $89.

STS9 – Saturday night – The Fillmore Silver Spring

Sound Tribe Sector 9—an instrumental rock and electronic music band—is scheduled to play Halloween night at The Fillmore. Tickets to the show are $31.50. However, the ticket website notes the show is sold-out; an option is available to add your phone number in case tickets become available.
