Patrick Ewing’s former Potomac estate hits the market for $5.3 million
The enormous shoe closet, basketball hoop and workout equipment at Patrick Ewing’s former 12-bathroom, 7-bedroom estate in Potomac remain 15 years after the 7-footer sold the property in 2000.
It’s now on the market again for $5.3 million, according to listing agent Ellie Shorb. Shorb, who works out of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s downtown Bethesda office, said the home at 9712 Sorrel Ave. was built for Ewing, the former Georgetown and New York Knicks star who in 2008 was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

“This spectacular seven-bedroom, 12-bath, four-car garage home is ideal for entertaining, and will make the new owners feel like they’re enjoying a year-round vacation at a luxurious resort,” Shorb said.
The colonial-style home near Democracy Boulevard features a cathedral-sized ceiling and curved staircase with gardens, a 50-foot-long pool, lighted tennis court and guest cottage.
The 14,800-square-foot home has a sunken great room with a fireplace and a basement with a gym and is located on a private gated road.
Shorb said it’s one of the most expensive homes listed in Potomac in the last several years.
‘Castle at Forest Glen’ sold to financial services firm
The unique office building at 10 Post Office Road, complete with stucco finishes and two minarets, was purchased by Kensington-based financial services firm Financial Benefit Services earlier this month for $2.25 million. The firm will move its headquarters to the Silver Spring building, according to Rory S. Coakley Realty, the company that brokered the deal.
Coakley Realty announced a number of other Silver Spring commercial real estate deals earlier this month. The Ethiopian Broadcasting Service will lease the first floor of the office building at 813 Silver Spring Ave., in the middle of the area’s growing Ethiopian community.
Coakley also represented the owners of 625 Sligo Ave., which sold the building there to Red Rock Films (a local company that produces shows for Discovery Channel’s Shark Week) for $430,000.
