Montgomery County police announced Wednesday the arrest of two Maryland men and a Washington, D.C., man in connection with a May armed robbery at the Shady Grove Metro station.
Surveillance footage of the May 8 incident showed three men entering an elevator at the station around 5:25 p.m. Another man entered the elevator as well. When the doors closed, one of the suspects pulled a handgun from the backpack of another suspect and another man robbed the bystander at gunpoint.
The three suspects then left the elevator.
Police identified the suspects as Milton Graves Jr., 19, of Temple Hills, Robert Dawkins, 25, of Waldorf, and Daniel Hurey, 19 of Washington, D.C. Police said Hurey held the handgun after removing it from Graves’ backpack, while Dawkins allegedly stole the man’s wallet.
After police released the surveillance footage June 22, officers say they received a tip that helped identify the men.
All three were charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Graves and Dawkins are being held on $250,000 bond and Hurey is being held on $75,000 bond, according to police.
Police said the person who called Crime Solvers of Montgomery County and provided the tip that led to the men’s arrest is eligible for a reward and should call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-8477.
