Kenwood’s name probably grew out of that of Edgar Kennedy since he bought more than 200 acres of scrubby land in 1926. He and his partner, Donal Chamberlin, designed, cleared, subdivided and promoted the neighborhood. Kennedy planted the neighborhood's cherry trees, which draw thousands of visitors during the annual spring blooming.
