New Renderings Show Look of Community Diner Coming to Bethesda

The new concept by restaurateur Mark Bucher will be located on the ground floor of the new 7770 Norfolk condo building

The new diner, Community, coming to Bethesda’s Woodmont Triangle is aiming for a mid-April opening, according to owner and restaurateur Mark Bucher.

New renderings of the restaurant show a design that features blue and white booths, wood accents, tile floors and a spacious bar. Bucher is the founder of the Medium Rare and BGR The Burger Joint restaurants.

Washington City Paper first published the renderings and Bucher later provided them to Bethesda Beat.

The diner concept is going into the ground floor of the 7770 Norfolk condo building, which is entering the final phase of construction at the corner of Norfolk and Fairmont avenues.

When Bucher first detailed his new diner concept in January he described it as “an old New York-style coffee shop.”

Bucher’s plan is to offer a restaurant more upscale than the nearby Tastee Diner, but less formal than the new Silver concept that opened on Bethesda Row last month. Community will likely compete with Tastee Diner, which is a block away from the condo building.
