The new Bethesda restaurant from one of the biggest names in the Washington, D.C., food scene—Chef Mike Isabella—is now planning to open next year.

A spokeswoman for Kapnos Kouzina said in an email Friday that “typical construction delays” have pushed the estimated opening of the new restaurant to early 2016. Kapnos is taking over the former Vapiano space at Bethesda Row at the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Hampden Lane.

In May, the Greek restaurant was looking at opening this fall, after originally planning to open in the summer when the restaurant was first announced in January.

Isabella, who rose to culinary prominence after competing on Top Chef All Stars has been busy over the past year, opening the Mexican concept Pepita as well as Kapnos Taverna in Arlington. The chef’s D.C. sandwich shop, G by Mike Isabella, ranked 8th on The Washington Post’s Fall Dining Guide this year. The list included critic Tom Sietsema’s top 10 restaurants in the D.C. area.
