Correction: The Treasure Trove community book sale organized by the Woman's Club of Chevy Chase was incorrectly listed as an event for this weekend. It is actually happening Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 18.

Jackie Evancho: Awakening – Saturday night – The Music Center at Strathmore 

Dubbed the “girl with the golden voice” by the Salt Lake Tribune, 15-year-old classical singer Jackie Evancho is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Saturday. The young singer got her start performing on the TV show America’s Got Talent and has since performed around the world. Tickets to the show range from $48 to $115.

Kentlands Oktoberfest – Sunday afternoon – Kentlands Market Square, 821 Center Point Way, Gaithersburg

Oktoberfest returns for the 24th year at the Kentlands this Sunday. There will be live music and dance performances at four different stage, a traditional beer garden and wine-tasting from Maryland vineyards. Kids can enjoy free horse-drawn wagon rides and crafts. There will also be retail vendors and food. Admission and parking are free. The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Naughty Professor – Friday night – AMP by Strathmore, 11810 Grand Park Ave., North Bethesda

Six young jazz musicians from across the U.S. came together to form the band Naughty Professor in 2011. The band plays a high-energy style of jazz and funk. The band takes the stage at 8 p.m. and tickets are $22 to $30.

Tom Principato Band – Sunday night – Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club

Face of the Week

Blues guitarist Tom Principato will take the stage Sunday night in Bethesda to perform with his band. The Washington, D.C., native has been touring since the 1970s at clubs and festivals around the world. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25

The Great Gatsby – Multiple weekend shows – F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre, 603 Edmonston Drive, Rockville

The Rockville Little Theatre will close its run of The Great Gatsby this weekend with performances Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The theater is performing the version of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel adapted for the stage by Simon Levy. The Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults and $20 for seniors.

Book and yard sale – Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 18 – Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase, 7931 Connecticut Ave., Chevy Chase

The annual “Treasure Trove” community book sale at the Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. On Saturday, the event will also include a community yard sale. Used goods and a variety of books will be available. Free parking is available at the rear of the club building on Connecticut Avenue.
