A sister restaurant to North Bethesda’s Amina Thai is now open on Colesville Road, reports Silver Spring blog East MoCo. The restaurant specializes in halal Thai cuisine and its North Bethesda location is popular among reviewers on Yelp. The restaurant is at 8624 Colesville Road. It does not appear to have a website or Facebook page, but the phone number is 301-588-3588.
Soup Up Bethesda moves closer to opening

The new soup restaurant coming to Bethesda’s unique PeriPoint Building at the intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Wilson Boulevard is getting closer to opening. Owner Donna Henry told Bethesda Beat Wednesday she hopes to open in two to three weeks. Henry gained a reputation as “the soupinista” after opening Soup Up DC at Union Market in 2013.
Bethesda rooftop farm is now growing

The new rooftop farm on the top of Federal Realty’s Equinox building on Woodmont Avenue is now producing a variety of vegetables, greens and herbs after being planted in July. The 6,400 square foot farm is growing leafy greens, beets, radishes, spinach, carrots, arugula, herbs and basil, according to Up Top Acres co-founder Jeff Prost-Green. Prost-Green said Wednesday this growing season the business is experimenting with the newly planted rooftop to figure out the best soil depths and mixtures to grow food. He said next year they plan to set up a CSA (community-supported agriculture program) and work with local restaurants to sell the produce. He said they also may try to set up a farm stand somewhere in Bethesda to sell items grown on the roof.
Inferno Pizzeria Napoletana set to open
The cozy new pizzeria owned by former Oval Room chef Tony Conte is preparing to open in North Potomac next week. Conte, who gained a reputation as a fine dining chef at the Washington, D.C. restaurant, told The Washington Post he plans to open the Darnestown Road restaurant Oct. 13. The restaurant plans to serve Neapolitan-style pizzas and a range of appetizers as well as a changing menu of entrees.
Suspended Brewing Company gets federal permit, waiting on others
The new brewery coming to Lofstrand Lane in Rockville received its federal permit to start brewing beer last week, but it’s still waiting on a construction permit from the city and a state brewing permit, according to co-owner Josey Schwartz. The brewery had hoped to open in September, but Schwartz said in an email they don’t yet have a projected opening date as they wait for the permits.
