Update 1:20 p.m. – About 2,000 residents living near the Chevy Chase and Silver Spring border lost power for the second time in four days Wednesday morning.
A power outage hit the area near Rock Creek Forest Elementary School around 8:50 a.m. Residents in North Portal Estates in Washington, D.C., which is located just to the east of Rock Creek Park, were also affected by the outage, according to Pepco’s power outage map.
Around 3 p.m. power was restored to the area.
On Sunday, a different power outage struck the same area from around 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Pepco spokesman Bob Hainey said around noon crews were working in the area to determine the exact cause of Wednesday's outage. He said Sunday's outage was caused by a downed tree limb.
The Daily Dish, a restaurant on Grubb Street in Silver Spring, said on its Twitter account its business is being affected by the outage.

A different power outage has also struck neighborhoods in North Bethesda and Kensington Wednesday morning, according to Pepco's outage map.
Metro said on its Twitter account that train service between Grosvenor and Medical Center was interrupted briefly Wednesday morning after a train made contact with a low-hanging wire. Hainey said Pepco crews are currently working to put the wire back up.
